Ingredients Boxes are stuffed full of all the little bits and pieces you'll love to add to your textured batts, rolags, felting projects, freeform embroidery and much more....
I've been dying the contents of these boxes for years, but usually only have them for sale when I go to shows.
I love the tweedy texture that silk noil gives to blends...
I'm a magpie so I adore the iridescent sparkle from firestar, and the glitter from angelina.
The sheen from silk is always magical... and the matt texture from hemp is always captivating.
I create each box around a colour palette, but you just use them to build up your own collection of components, or use them all together in one huge project....
Each box contains-
60g of Tussah Silk (commercially dyed, 3 different colours)
20g of Hemp (commercially dyed, 2 different colours)
20g of Silk Noil (hand dyed, 2 different colours)
20g of Firestar (trilobal nylon, hand dyed, 2 different colours)
2g of Angelina (2 different colours)
(Very occasionally I might alter this for certain boxes)
The best news, in the UK this fits in to a Large Letter Size box, so you only need to pay large letter rate for postage.
Each box is a limited edition, and I'll be putting together fresh combinations all the time.
If you want to get an email letting you know when fresh boxes are available, then subscribe to the Ingredients Box mailing list.

So how should you use these boxes....
If you have a drum carder, blending board, or hand cards you can combine these fibres with wool of any kind.
As a rough guide 10g of silk noil in 100g of wool will make for a pretty textured spin. 10g of firestar in 90g of wool gives a nice sparkle, without feeling squeaky. A pinch of Angelina goes a long way!
The Silk and Hemp work well in much larger proportions.
Take off your batt, or rolags, and enjoy the texture the fibres have bought to your spin!
If you're a felter then none of these bases will felt by themselves. However they will combine with wool, and felt in place, giving you beautiful texture and highlights for your finished piece. These fibres all catch the light differently to wool, so can really transform the overall look of your work. If you own hand carders you can create small amounts of blended fibre, but all these textures will also felt in to place on the surface of your work.
